Dear Members,

We are really excited to announce that Running Wild is back for another season!   Last week, the club held the annual AGM and elected in the Season 4 (2013 – 2014) committee, who have been busy organising and planning the new season 4 races!

Season 4 will consist of eight races, five of which will be the short course mountain series events, with distances ranging from 12 – 21km. Each mountain series course is unique in its own right.  We are also planning this year to have a shorter course option for each of the mountain series events, for example a 5k or 10k option, as well as the full course distance.  The exact distance of the shorter option may vary between races, but this will be an exciting option for those who love trails, but do not want to run the full mountain series race distance.

The remaining three events will be the long course races, which are Glenbrook marathon (and associated distances), the Australia Day Knapsack loop course and our hugely popular Mt Solitary Ultra.  Each of these races offer different things for different runners, but are destined to be mainstays on the trail running calendar.

So here is the new race calendar for 2013 / 2014:

Sunday 25th August 2013 – Mt Portal (SCS)*

Sunday 29th September 2013 – Glenbrook 21/34 /42 km (LCS)

Saturday 26th October 2013 – Kedumba Half Marathon (SCS)

Saturday 16th November 2013 – Narrowneck Night Run (SCS)

December 2013 – Rest month

Sunday 26th January 2014 – Knapsack 3/6 hr lap race (LCS)

Saturday 15th February 2014 – Wentworth Falls (SCS)

Saturday 22nd March 2014 – Woodford Dam (SCS)

Saturday 26th April 2014 – Mt Solitary (LCS)

*SCS – Short Course Series and LCS – Long Course Series

At Running Wild HQ, the new committee are all excited and raring to go!  The first race is only a month away, so this means that both Season 4 membership registration and the registration for Mt Portal will be opening up very shortly.  As I write this, the committee are working hard to get both the membership and the Mt Portal event registrations open, so please keep checking our website for these registration links to become active.
